Dog Friendly Accommodation in Windermere

Dog friendly, self catering holiday accommodation in the Lake District with all the family; dogs included! Miles and miles of footpaths and many dog friendly attractions and pubs make the Lake District unbeatable for you and your four-legged friend.

The Lake District has a history of being a great place to bring your dog, regularly winning awards from The Kennel Club for Best Great Outdoors Destination, and containing towns like Keswick that have been previously crowned as ‘Most Dog Friendly Town in Britain’. Because of that, Windermere Marina like to make sure that your holiday cottage is just as dog friendly as the great outdoors, with properties that boast gardens and fantastic walking routes that can be accessed right from the door.

Windward Townhouses 4 and 5 accept up to 3 dogs per stay. All other properties accept up to 2 dogs – a charge of £40 per dog per stay applies.

Things to do in the Lake District with your Dog

There are a couple of walks right on the doorsteps of our apartments; it’s great to leave the car behind and head out onto the hills… you will find further information about what you and your four-legged friend can do in your property information.

Cockshott Point: approx 30 mins walk

Leave WMV by the rear entrance, cross the road into the car park, turn left and walk towards the lake; on your right-hand side there will be a path leading off. After crossing the small bridge, take the swing gate on your left to walk along ‘Cockshott Point’. When you come to the main road, turn right and walk along the road; the swing gate on your right after the farm track leads you back to the car park across farm land.

Far Sawrey: from 30mins to 2 hrs walk

Leave WMV by the rear entrance, turn left and walk towards (and take) the car ferry. Once you’re on the other side of the lake walk, along the road and a gateway on your right leads to the lake edge. Various footpaths leave this path along the route; all are well signposted.

Pet Friendly Lake District Pubs

The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant at Windermere Marina Village opens its door to well-behaved dogs as well as their well-behaved owners! The Royal Oak on Kendal Road and the Ship Inn on Glebe Road and The Flying Pig in Bowness all welcome well-behaved dogs along with many more. The Watermill at Ings is a little further afield, but is a treat for both human and dog with its own micro-brewery.
