Venturing into the culinary wonders of the Lake District, we set out to uncover the best spots serving up two local favourites: the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and the Cumberland Sausage.
By analysing TripAdvisor ‘excellent’ ratings, mentions of the region’s staple dishes, and restaurant popularity, we were able to create a standardised score to show top 10 best places for both Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Cumberland Sausage, across Lake District restaurants.

A cut above the rest, Cartmel Village Shop secured a score of 4.68 thanks to its excellent reviews. Customers mentioned their beloved and world-famous Sticky Toffee Pudding in 66% of reviews. The best part? It’ll only cost you £2.
In second place with a score of 3.24 is Lewis’s Bistro, a small but spectacular family run establishment based in Grasmere. Sticky Toffee Pudding was mentioned 93 times in their reviews, and a huge 71% of reviews were rated ‘excellent’.
Third is Francine’s with a score of 3.1. This continental style coffee house and restaurant, located in Windermere, offer exclusive evening dining. They boast the highest ratio of ‘excellent’ TripAdvisor reviews at 70%.

Ranking number one with a score of 4.96, The Kingfisher, a sit down or takeaway traditional chippy. Based in Keswick, nearly 70% of its reviews are rated ‘excellent’, with their renowned Cumberland Sausage dish mentioned in 6% of these.
In second we have The Apple Pie Cafe, with a score of 4.07. This cafe and bakery house located in Ambleside is small but mighty, and packed with flavourful dishes both sweet and savoury. With nearly 60% of reviews rated ‘excellent’, it was voted one of the top 10 places to eat in the Lake District by the Guardian previously.
Greens Cafe & Bistro comes in third with a score of 3.92. This quaint cafe located in Grasmere had the highest ratio of excellent reviews at 72%, with Cumberland sausage mentioned 38 times. You can visit from 9.30am – 4pm to enjoy a range of meals with locally sourced ingredients.
