The Boardwalk Bar & Grill is just a stone’s throw away from The Marina Village and has views across Lake Windermere. This modern pub and bar serves up some tasty dishes.

Baha For a culinary delight, why not purchase a ticket for the NYE party at Baha? You’ll be treated to an 8 course tasting menu with live music playing throughout the night. Following your meal, there will be a DJ playing music as you party into the early hours of 2024. It’s worth knowing that this event is for over 18’s only.

Villa Positano If you are looking for an incredible Italian meal as you head into the New Year, Villa Positano should be your eatery of choice. With a menu capable of catering for all tastes and preferences, Villa Positano serves up a whole host of Italian dishes, alongside tempting steaks. After enjoying a fantastic meal, you can step out into Bowness and head off to one of the many pubs and bars before making your way to the Glebe for a spectacular firework display.

The Boathouse If you are looking to stay on site at Windermere Marina Village, you could always opt to enjoy a meal at The Boathouse Bar and Restaurant. This year, you will be welcomed by fizz and canapes on arrival, followed by a scrumptious three course meal and a DJ hosting the best party songs throughout the night, a fantastic night filled with good food and plenty of fun. It’s worth noting that the dinner is a ticketed event, so you’ll need to book ahead.

The Angel Inn – Serving up some fantastic home-made dishes, The Angel is proud to source the vast majority of its produce within the Lake District and its surrounding areas. Based in the heart of Bowness, The Angel Inn is perfectly placed for a New Year’s Eve night out, with plenty of bars and pubs in close proximity.

Most restaurants should allow you to keep your table all night, but it’s always best to ask before booking to avoid disappointment on the night.

The New Year Countdown

As the New Year approaches on the 31st December 2023, there is an awful lot going on in and around Bowness on Windermere, so when you have finished your meal you won’t be short of places to go.

Most of the pubs around the area will be free and un-ticketed, inevitably they will be very busy, but this makes for a genuinely fantastic atmosphere throughout the evening.

The vast majority of people will gather on the Glebe ahead of the midnight countdown, with a number of hotels near the shore having their own firework displays. It has become a bit of a tradition for hordes of people to gather by the jetty on the lake’s shore, as it has an absolutely fantastic vantage point. Be sure to head down early enough to get yourself the perfect spot though, as you can imagine the Glebe is bustling as the countdown approaches!

Following an awe inspiring firework show, you should head into one of the many pubs and bars which will be sure to give you the perfect place to celebrate the New Year into the early hours of the morning.
