Celebrate English Tourism Week in Windermere

There are plenty of reasons why you and your family would love to stay with us in Windermere this autumn, read on to find out why.

English Tourism Week is a great chance to celebrate the fantastic sites and attractions that can be found all over the country. The celebration runs from the 17th-25th March, a perfect time to get out and about and see the most beautiful parts of the country.

Of course, we think Windermere is one of the most (if not the most) beautiful parts of the UK, so we will spend English Tourism Week appreciating the best bits about Windermere. So, why not join us and see for yourself what makes Windermere so special? In the meantime, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best things to do that will help you to celebrate English Tourism Week during your stay in Windermere.

Walking in Windermere

Windermere has plenty of natural beauty to offer, so taking a walk in the great outdoors is the perfect way to experience it. Spring officially begins on the 20th March, so English Tourism Week falls at an ideal time. As the days start to get longer and warmer you can enjoy a little more of Windermere by foot.

You can visit one of our recent blogs for links to local walking routes or simply go exploring.

Include the WHOLE Family

When we say the whole family, we really mean it! Windermere is a great place to bring the canine members of your family as it is a particularly dog-friendly area. We have dog-friendly holiday cottages in the Lake District so you don’t have to exclude your four-legged friend from your holiday. Once you’re here, you’ll be able to find plenty of dog-friendly activities and places to visit, so your pup can celebrate English Tourism Week alongside you.

Take a look at our blog about the Dog-Friendly Lake District for some inspiration.

Celebrate English Cuisine

A big part of English tourism is the cuisine, so this is the perfect time to delve into local dishes. Windermere is jam packed full of independent restaurants, cafés and other eateries so you are spoilt for choice! If you are staying at Windermere Marina Village, your closest restaurant is The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant which is right on site. With many locally sourced ingredients, this is a great place to really sample the local cuisine.
