For a company that combines style and fun look no further than herdy. A Kendal born business producing unique gifts and treasures featuring the iconic Herdwick sheep as its emblem.

Utilising the areas native breed of sheep as inspiration herdy began operations in 2007, the brand has grown exponentially and now supplies to over 400 retailers around the world and has recently expanded its product range in wool clothing and even mattresses! Be sure to stop by the Bowness shop when next passing.

Bath House

Founded in 1997, Bath House is a fragrance and natural skincare brand that was founded by a creative team of artists and designers in the Lake District.

Taking inspiration from the stunning local landscape, everything from body care to home scents are on offer, with fragrances such as Pomegranate & Blackberry and Cuban Cedar & Lime being amongst the most popular for many visitors.

The company has humble beginnings; from experimenting in the kitchen sink, the team behind the brand developed through the years to now have six boutiques across the north of England, with one being here in Bowness-on-Windermere. A must see (or smell!).

Love the Lakes

Specialising in all things Lake District, Love the Lakes is a Cumbrian company that supplies locally sourced gifts for all of the family.

With the flagship store based in Bowness-on-Windermere and a second store in Keswick, the retailer holds a wide range of gorgeous products, from The Lakes Distillery Spirits and Liqueurs to Wax Lyrical, which are a luxury scented candle and reed diffuser manufacturer.

Make sure you visit the shop, which can be found on Ash Street, or alternatively take a look at their extensive product range online.

Lots to See Around the Lakes

The tremendous selection of shopping is not only available in Bowness-on-Windermere but can be found in various other towns around the Lake District, too!

Whilst we are focusing on shopping in the Lake District it would be incomplete without mentioning Lakeland, which is a creative kitchen and homeware retailer that was founded just 10 minutes in the heart of Windermere town. In its 50-year history, the company has grown to have over 65 shops and boasts over an impressive 4000 products. Originating here is Windermere the impressively sized store is now a huge tourist attraction and café.

Further shopping highlights can be found in Ambleside, which is lovingly dubbed by locals as ‘the anorak capital of the world’ due to the extensive amount of outdoor clothing merchants. In addition, the area is the starting town for many hiking trails and mountain biking routes, meaning that tourists will more than likely be taking part in the anorak-wearing, too!
