Windermere is home to a huge variation of activities for the family, and with February half term and the Easter holidays nearing, what better time to enjoy these perfect activities!

Based at the heart of the Lake District, the area is surrounded by beautiful scenery and both indoor and outdoor activities, including boat rides, canoe and bike hire and exciting adventures for the little ones. School holidays are the perfect time to enjoy what this beautiful location offers, and here we have listed some indoor and outdoor activities you can enjoy in Windermere.

1 – Treasure Trail

Just 1.8 miles away from Windermere, you will find the Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail, an activity for the whole family to enjoy.

You will discover new places in this 2.3-mile route, with answers to clues hidden on plaques, signs and statues. Do you think you will be able to solve the clues and complete the trail?

2 – Treetop Trek

Located just 2.8 miles from Windermere, the Treetop Trek is a fantastic outdoor activity.

Featuring 35 daring challenges including crawling through tunnels, slides and bouncing on giant trampolines, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. All these activities are after you climb up 40 ft!

If this isn’t enough, you can end on a thrill, experiencing a 250m zip wire descent! This is the perfect adventure day out and is suitable for children aged 4-18.

3 – Wray Castle

4.2 miles outside of Windermere stands the Wray Castle. You can arrive by boat at this magical indoor and outdoor activity, which features turrets, towers, period dressing-up and hidden treasures for you to find.

There’s so much to enjoy in this historical castle, from Peter Rabbit Adventure rooms, to playing in Peter’s burrow and the secret tree house! This is a fantastic family day out where you can create unforgettable memories.
