Because every good dog deserves a great holiday too.

If you’ve ever tried to sneak your suitcase past a pair of hopeful brown eyes and a wagging tail, you’ll know – dogs always want to come along. At Windermere Marina Village, we believe a Lake District escape should be as much for your four-legged friend as it is for you. So, let’s take a walk (quite literally) through a pup’s perfect Lakes holiday.

A Tail-Wagging Arrival

The moment paws hit the ground at Windermere Marina Village, excitement levels soar. There’s space to stretch, friendly faces to greet, and plenty of new scents to investigate. With our dog-friendly self-catering apartments, your pup can settle in right beside you – no need for a kennel or dog-sitter. Bowls, treats, towel and a cosy corner are ready to make them feel at home.

Sniff, Splash, Snooze: A Pup’s Day in The Lakes

Morning Sniffs on the Trails
Imagine your dog bounding happily along Millerground lakeshore path or padding gently through the Brockhole gardens. The Lakes are full of woodland and waterside walks, perfect for sniffing every tree and chasing every stick.

Midday Splash Time
A quick dip in Lake Windermere? Don’t mind if we do. Dogs can paddle safely in certain spots along the lakeshore – ideal for cooling down after a sunny stroll.

Afternoon Pub Paws
Nothing says “The Lakes” quite like a hearty pub stop. Many of our nearby favourites, like The Flying Pig and Marina View Restaurant & Bar, welcome dogs with biscuits and belly rubs while you enjoy a local ale.

Evening Snooze with a View
Back at your cottage or apartment, tired paws tuck under a blanket while you enjoy watching the sun set behind the Langdale Pikes. There’s nothing quite like that contented sigh as your pup drifts off, dreaming of tomorrow’s adventures.

Marina Dog Tales

Some of our favourite guests have wagging tails:

  • Rufus, a spaniel who insists on greeting every boat at the marina before his morning walk.
  • Luna, a cavapoo who discovered the joy of paddleboarding with her owners (yes, she wore a little lifejacket!).
  • Even our team members are dog lovers – office dogs Nellie and Tosh can usually be found napping under a desk, ready for a lunchtime stroll.

Why Dogs (and Their Humans) Love It Here

  • Dog-friendly accommodation with plenty of space
  • Walking trails on your doorstep
  • Nearby dog-welcoming pubs and cafés
  • Adventure and relaxation in equal measure

Plan Your Pup-Perfect Escape

Whether your dog is an energetic explorer or a professional napper, Windermere Marina Village is ready to welcome them. Because every good dog deserves a great holiday too.

Rainy Days, Best Days: Your Cosy Lake District Itinerary

When the clouds roll in, the comfort kicks in. The Lake District is stunning in the sun, but there’s something uniquely magical about a day wrapped in mist and rain. It’s when log fires crackle louder, hot drinks taste cosier…

Love Stories on the Lake: Romantic Escapes at Windermere

Escape. Connect. Fall in love all over again. The Lake District has inspired poets for centuries – Wordsworth found beauty in daffodils, Coleridge in the wild fells and Beatrix Potter in its timeless charm. But perhaps the most enduring stories…
