Romantic Walk

Head out in any direction from Windermere Marina Village and you’re likely to find yourself on a lovely walk, especially if you follow the lakeside path.

For an especially romantic experience, we recommend that you plan to be on your walk just before the sun sets, which you’ll see around 5pm on February 14th, don’t forget your torch!. Admire the Sunset from nearby Brant Fell for a panoramic view of Lake Windermere.

Depending on your plans for the rest of the evening, you may want to tie this romantic walk into your dinner plans. Some couples might enjoy a moonlight walk up to the restaurant of their choice, whereas others may want to stroll back to their apartment to enjoy a romantic night in

Lunch or Dinner

If dining in style is more your cup of tea, there are plenty of trendy establishments vying for your attention in Windermere. If you’re looking for a top-end dining experience with stunning views over Lake Windermere, you could opt for a Valentine lunch at Miller Howe. This location boasts a spectacular menu of contemporary dishes with a their own special twist, be sure to head over to Miller Howe for a truly unforgettable experience.

You may be more partial to a laid-back restaurant for your romantic meal for two, if so, Gilpin Spice offers the perfect atmosphere with stylish and quirky décor and an open kitchen. This highly regarded restaurant serves an array of tapas-style Asian dishes which have been inspired by countries along the ‘spice trail’, including the Philippines, Thailand, China and India.

You and your loved one may be more into fine Italian Cuisine, so a trip to San Peitro may be on the cards. This restaurant is nestled away in the heart of Windermere and offers some of the best Italian food in the Lakes. This location is also perfect for a Valentines meal thanks to the intimate setting within the restaurant, along with staff that simply cannot do enough for you.

For a more rustic experience, we recommend The Wild Boar, a Grill & Smokehouse Restaurant. This restaurant features country-style cooking. It’s a meaty extravaganza that doesn’t sacrifice on style – many of their dishes are served on wooden platters, suited to the heavy use of mixed wood throughout the restaurant.

Alternatively, if you don’t fancy venturing too far, you could choose to enjoy an evening in style at The Boathouse. food is served until 9pm, and the bar stays open until 11pm. At The Boathouse, you can enjoy quality food and service in the knowledge that your accommodation is a stone’s throw away.

Spa Night

Low Wood Bay is on the way to Ambleside and offers some wonderful Spa packages. This beautiful spa offers an outdoor pool and thermal journey, perfect for relaxing after a day strolling around The Lake District.

Film Night

It might be old school, but it’s a tried and tested night that’s sure to succeed. You can visit the Royalty Cinema for a night out in an Art Deco building watching the latest films, or Zeferellis in Ambleside along with there ‘Reel Deal’ great for vegan and vegetarians. Alternatively, bring your entertainment with you and enjoy a romantic night in curled up on the sofa with a box of your favourite chocolates!
