We can offer all that and more; the Lake District is jam packed with great events for you to attend, should you want to explore.

When and Where

Taking place this year on Thursday 12th September, the Westmorland County Show can promise you the best of Northern livestock with plenty of cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and alpacas. Not only that, but there are a whole host of events, stalls and shows going on throughout the day. It’s a huge show, often attended by upwards of 30,000 visitors, but there’s plenty of space at the County Show Field near Crooklands where the show is hosted.

Events at the Westmorland County Show

All money raised goes to the Westmorland County Agricultural Society, which supports local farming cultures so if you love Herdy, you should visit the County Show! This year’s show will feature the usual favourites, including some delightful extras that will make this year a worthwhile experience even if you’re a regular attendee at this annual celebration.

Celebrity Guests

This event often pulls in a wide range of people; locals, tourists and celebrities alike! This year, you can expect to see Simon Rimmer, presenter of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, doing two demos in the Food Theatre and meeting the farmers and producers who are showcasing at the event. It’s also worth keeping an eye out for other celebrities who may be attending the show as it’s very popular with local celebrities such as Country Files Helen Skelton and the Hairy Bikers and even the odd royal has been known to call in!

Show Jumping

A county show isn’t complete without horse demonstrations, and the Westmorland County Show has it all, from show jumping to carriage driving and a parade. If you or your children love horses, you should definitely introduce them to the horses participating here to witness an amazing spectacle, we guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.

Foxhounds

Dogs are an important aspect of country life, so there are no less than two different calibres of dog show on display at the Westmorland County Show. If you are an avid dog lover, then why not come and watch the parade of the hounds, the Dog Show, or the exclusive Terrier & Foxhound Show. Every show is a joy to watch for the whole family.

Animal Shows

Including cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, goats, alpacas and poultry, these animal showcases are some of the best that the Lake District has to offer.
