This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Windermere Marina Village as a Maintenance Operative Apprentice. Set against the breath-taking backdrop of Lake Windermere, you’ll work in one of the most picturesque and inspiring locations in the UK.

You will gain practical, hands-on experience in a wide variety of repairs, maintenance, and refurbishments across our unique marina and holiday property complex.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will develop real-world skills in carpentry, plumbing, decorating, health & safety, fault finding, reactive maintenance, and customer service — all while working towards a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification. You’ll also be supported by our dedicated team and mentor, with structured training to help you grow in confidence and ability.

Essential Requirements
- An interest in hands-on or practical work
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills in a working environment
- Undertake any task that may be reasonably asked of you by your manager
- Ability to travel to the working location
Desired Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade 4 or above (or willingness to achieve Level 1/2 Functional Skills at college alongside your apprenticeship)
- Current driving licence/ working towards the licence qualification
In your role, you will:
- Assist with a variety of repairs including plumbing, joinery, painting, plastering, and general maintenance
- Learn how to safely use and maintain tools and equipment
- Support a safe, clean, and functional environment for both regular and holiday guests
- Work to industry standards of safety, security, and hygiene
- Take part in regular training and performance reviews to help you grow
- Learn about grounds maintenance and assist in the upkeep of the Marina
Apprenticeship Information
Enrolled on the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship at Kendal College, typically over 24 months. This includes:
- Regular workplace-based learning supported by registered training provider and line manager
- Structured off-the-job training (day release to college)
- Functional Skills support in English or Maths if not previously achieved
Prospects
- Once you have completed your apprenticeship there will be the opportunity to potentially go into a permanent based role
- Pay: From £15,704 to £20,800 for your first year, dependent on age and experience
- Expected hours: 40 hours per week over a 7 day rota. The role will include some weekend working on a rota basis
