With bright, crisp days and wood burning stoves still roaring, there's plenty to fill your days with on a Lake District escape in February. Our favourites include;
Aira Force - One of the most popular family-friendly walks in the Lake District, it's worth getting up early for! With one of the most scenic drives in England over Kirkstone Pass, this half mile walk up to the stunning 65ft waterfall is often best viewed after heavy rain, and has the advantage of being next to Pooley bride with toasty tea rooms, pubs and shops. Don't forget your camera, as the area is also famous for the elusive red squirrels that you may be lucky enough to spot! Why not make a day of it and take an Ullswater cruise - ask at check in for your discount voucher!
Rheged - with Indoor and Outdoor play areas, a Family Theatre and great holiday activities, Rheged is well worth a day out - there's plenty for all ages including shops, cinema, cafe and many exhibitions. Check out their website for the latest offers and news.
Cinema Days - The Lake District is home to 5 independent cinemas: there are no multiplexes here! Step back in time with small intimate screens and, if you're lucky, even an ice cream interval half way through! Zeferellis, The Brewery, The Royalty, Zeffs at the park and The Roxy are all within 30 minutes of Windermere, and are open daily with matinees during the school holidays.
Windermere Lake Cruises - Operating daily, these traditional steamers can take you up and down the length of Windermere. Offering cruises from 45 minutes to 3 hours, many can be combined with other attractions, including the Lakes Aquarium, Brockhole or the Lake District Motor Museum - as a guest at Windermere Marina Village, you also get a discount - ask on check in for further details.
