Easter Family Activities in Windermere

Windermere is an incredibly beautiful area of the country, no matter what time of year you choose to visit. While winter has plenty to offer in Windermere, we do love to see the changing of the seasons as the frost starts to thaw, flowers start to appear and the sun (hopefully) starts to shine!

So, if you’re planning on visiting Windermere over the Easter period, you’ve picked a great time to explore the area. Not only is the area particularly beautiful during Springtime, there are also plenty of things to do while you’re here, so you can entertain the whole family.

Enjoy the Natural Beauty of Windermere

Spring is a great time to enjoy the natural beauty that Windermere has to offer. Getting out and about, going on walks and climbing fells can be a bit easier and more pleasant for a family once it’s started to warm up and the days are getting longer.

You could go for a walk around any of the most beautiful spots in Windermere and see if you can spot the daffodils and other flowers starting to push their way through the ground. A visit down to the lake may even give you the chance to see little ducklings and signets, which is always popular with the kids!

Take a Lake Cruise

While the Windermere Lake Cruises sail every day except Christmas Day, Spring is a fantastic time to get onto the lake and see the beauty of the natural surroundings. Clearer skies and greener scenery can be a great accompaniment to a day on the lake.

There are a number of different cruises to choose from, so if your children have a short attention span, you could opt for the Islands Cruise which lasts 45 minutes, rather than the Yellow Cruise which takes 90 minutes.

Go on a Treasure Trail

The Bowness on Windermere self-guided Treasure Trail is a great way to spend the day with the family. All you need to do is purchase the treasure map, which you can do here. You can either download it as a PDF or have it sent out to you in the post, then let the fun begin!

The trail will take you around Bowness on Windermere and is only 2.3 miles long and take roughly 2 hours to complete. You can even win a real cash prize as all correct answers are entered into a monthly prize draw. This is a great way to get to know the area while having plenty of fun and keeping the kids entertained!

Easter at The World of Beatrix Potter

The World of Beatrix Potter is a fantastic attraction for families, offering the kids a touch of magic, and thrilling the grownups with memories of their childhood. The attraction itself includes scenes from the stories of characters such as Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck and Mrs Tiggy-winkle.

Over the Easter weekend, there will be events including a Peter Rabbit Tea Party and a Mini Egg Hunt in the Peter Rabbit Garden.

Windermere has plenty to offer all year round, but this Easter is the perfect time to visit, and with our luxury self-catering accommodation in the Lake District, you can be sure to have a relaxing, fun and enjoyable holiday with the family. For more information about any of our cottages or apartments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of our friendly team who will be more than happy to help.
