From winter walks to a whole host of events and local activities, the Lakes are bustling with things to do on a chilly winter’s day.
We take a closer look at some of the events going on around the Lake District throughout the festive period, as well as some of the activities you will probably want to take part in during your stay in the Lakes.
Winter Walks in The Lakes
You simply cannot visit the Lake District during the winter if you aren’t going to take advantage of one of the many walks in the area. Whilst the walks are beautifully scenic all year round, there is something about the colder months which turns the Lake District into a genuine winter wonderland.
Whether you want to take a scenic stroll by the lake or be a bit more adventurous and tackle one of the many tarns around the area, you are sure to find stunning views around every corner. Clear winter day’s in the lakes offer an unrivalled view of the surrounding areas, especially when you manage to get to the peak of your chosen walk. We suggest taking a comforting flask of hot chocolate, so you can enjoy a well-earned warming drink as you bask in the natural beauty surrounding you, before safely making your decent.

If you are bringing children along to the Lake District during December, you will definitely want to consider taking them on a magical train ride throughout the Lakes with Santa.
